Newry Chamber is the Voice of Local Business in the Greater Newry Area, representing the interests of over 300 members.

Who We Are

Newry Chamber is the largest business-to-business organisation in the Greater Newry Area, representing in excess of 300 local businesses of varying sizes from all sectors of the business community.

We are the leading voice for businesses in the Greater Newry Area, promoting the area as a happy, healthy place to live, work, study, shop, visit and invest.

Through the use of revenue generating programmes and events, we provide our members with business support and representation to governments at all levels, working together with a range of key stakeholders.

We are community focused, representative, agile, adaptable and responsive to our members. Raising the profile of the Greater Newry Area and its strategic location.

We are the third largest Chamber in Northern Ireland with a full-time CEO, a Board of Directors and Council consisting of locally elected business representatives, sworn in at our AGM.

The Board of Directors consist of the President, Vice-President, Immediate Past-President, CEO and eight representatives from local businesses who are members of the Chamber.

The Council is recognised as the business forum of the locality and as such, at its meetings and through the work of the Chambers’ subcommittees, it will collect, represent and promote the interests, views and opinions of our members and the wider business community.

Julie Gibbons


Julie has recently taken up the role of Managing Director of the newly combined broking business, AbbeyAutoline, the largest Insurance Broker in Northern Ireland.

Prior to this, Julie was Operations Director of Autoline Insurance Group for 12 years. Julie has also worked as a Senior Operations Manager for Microsoft, a Strategy Consultant for KPMG and Supply Chain Director for Rubicon.

Julie holds an LLB from Queen’s University, Belfast and an MBA from University College, Dublin.

Executive Team

Tony McKeown

Chief Executive Officer

Tony was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Newry Chamber in August 2021.

Tony has over 20 years’ experience of working for leading international and national brands across multiple sectors. His early career was in sales roles at Cadbury based in London. He then returned to Northern Ireland in 2006 to become a Group Sales & Marketing Director in Newry. He has helped a number of brands become market leaders in their sectors.

Tony is known for his attention to detail, collaborative approach and drive. Tony has a wealth of experience in developing effective marketing campaigns. He has created a number of high-profile events and established an award-winning corporate social responsibility programme.

Ursula Savage

Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Ursula obtained a degree in Law & Politics and a Masters in Legislative Studies and Practice from Queen’s University, Belfast, followed by a Masters in Modern Irish from Ulster University, Belfast.

Following this, Ursula worked with Irish language organisations in Belfast, Dublin and Galway with roles in lobbying and advocacy, event planning and community development.

Ursula began her role as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Newry Chamber in December 2022.

Jarlath Meehan

Sales & Marketing Executive

Jarlath is a graduate of Queens University, Belfast with a degree in History, Politics and Economics and has been the Sales & Marketing Executive within Newry Chamber since February 2017.

A native of Newry, Jarlath is passionate about enhancing the profile of his local Chamber and the many ambitious, innovative and dynamic businesses that our region is renowned for producing.

Jarlath is responsible for managing our social media channels, email distribution, website, co-ordinating many aspects of our events and marketing the services and products of the Chamber.
