A plumbing lecturer from SRC has been awarded the Hugh Gettinby Award for excellence in skills training for Northern Ireland. Ronnie Ferris was presented with the trophy awarded annually to the top lecturer in Northern Ireland as recognition of outstanding achievement in skills competitions by Minister Stephen Farry. The winner of the award is decided by by the panel from the board of the Construction Industry Training Board. SRC Greenbank students have won the Gold Medal for Plumbing for the past five years and have won Gold, Silver and Bronze in the UK Finals held in the NEC in Birmingham. It was announced recently that SRC student Gary Doyle will be the sole representative for the United Kingdom in Plumbing at the World Skills Finals held between Aug 8-16, in Sao Paulo this year.
