Newry based Bairds Butchers returned home with a haul of awards in the first ever Traditional and Fine Foods and Butchery Awards. The city based butchers took the top title for Best Cook in the bag product with their Shepherd Collins Curry Night Neck of Lamb. Bairds Butchers also received gold for its Sweet Roast Vegetables in the Best Vegetable Side Dish category. Open to all independent butchers across Northern Ireland, the Traditional and Fine Foods and Butchery Awards reinforce the quality of the wide variety of fine food and butchery produce that is provided by butchers here in Ulster. The Butchery Excellence scheme run a variety of competitions open to Butchers across the Province and the Ulster Traditional and Fine Foods and Butchery Awards received over 200 entries. Since our first competition earlier in the year, entry numbers have increased significantly and the quality of the products are second to none.
