For the past five months, the Chamber has been busy providing events and support for members. One of our key events this month is the NI Small Business Conference on Thursday 24th June 2021.

This year’s virtual conference is focused on providing practical advice and support for small businesses across a range of subjects, including Access to Finance, Digital Marketing and How to Win Business.

This month, we will be launching the Greater Newry Area Business Awards 2021. This year, the awards ceremony will be on the Thursday 9th September 2021.

Look out for the launch of the application process on Monday 21st June 2021. There is always a competitive field to secure one of these prestigious awards, so start planning now to ensure your success in the 2021 awards.

NI SMALL BUSINESS CONFERENCE 2021

NMD BUSINESS LAUNCH BRAND BUILDING PROGRAMME

NMD Business launches a Brand Building Programme open to eligible businesses based in NMDDC Area who employ less than 50 staff.

27 DAYS TO APPLY TO THE EU SETTLEMENT SCHEME

If you employ workers from the EU, EEA or Switzerland,  to help minimise the impact that the UK leaving the EU may have on your business and staff you should notify them to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme.

EU, EEA & Swiss citizens and their family members, who were resident in the UK by 31st December 2020, should apply without delay so that they can continue to work, study, access free healthcare and benefits in Northern Ireland after 30th June 2021.

If your employees are an EU, EEA or Swiss Citizen living in Northern Ireland, they can contact Advice NI’s FREE multi-lingual service to check if they are eligible for the EU Settlement Scheme and can also provide FREE assistance with proof of identity, eligibility and suitability as well as completing the online application.

TRADE & INVESTMENT FOR A 10X ECONOMY:
PRIORITIES FOR NI’s INWARD INVESTMENT, TRADE & EXPORTS

Following the recent publication of a new strategy titled, ‘Skills for a 10X Economy’, Department. for the Economy wishes to outline the strategic priorities and high-level ambitions that will shape the department’s approach to inward investment, trade and exports.

Through inward investment, trade and exports, they can drive their inclusive, green growth agenda over the coming decade and as a result meet their vision of Northern Ireland as a 10X economy.

SME BREXIT SUPPORT FUND

The SME Brexit Support Fund could give you up to £2,000 to help with training or professional advice, if your business has up to 500 employees and no more than £100 million annual turnover.

WHAT YOU’LL BE ABLE TO USE THE GRANT FOR:

You can use the grant for training on:

  • How to complete customs declarations.
  • How to manage customs processes and use customs software and systems.
  • Specific import and export related aspects including VAT, excise and rules of origin.

It can be used to help you get professional advice so your business can meet its customs, excise, import VAT or safety and security declaration requirements.

FREE 1-2-1 CONSULTATIONS WITH INVEST NI

DATE: Wednesday 9th June 2021
TIME: 11:30am – 1:10pm

The event will offer you the opportunity to meet with business advisors in up to three specialist areas for FREE consultations on your business needs.

Eight advisors will cover the following topics:

► Data

The 20 min appointment slots must be pre-booked and will operate on a first come, first served basis.

You should only book one appointment in each specialist area of your choice. You can make up to a maximum of three appointments, with one meeting per chosen topic.
