Newry Chamber is inviting you to an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Tuesday 11th June at 1pm in Enterprise House, WIN Business Park, Newry.
The purpose of the EGM is to discuss proposals to increase the number of members of the Newry Chamber Board of Directors from 12 to 15 and amend the Chamber’s Articles of Association Accordingly.
The proposed amendment to the Articles of Association relate to Section 41.
Section 41 States:
The Board shall consist of:
(a) The President who shall be elected by the Board from their number.
(b) The Vice-President who shall also be elected by the Board from their number.
(c) The Immediate Past-President.
(d) The Treasurer.
(e) Up to eight individuals (each a Member) who are either nominated by the Board, by the Council or (in the case of a casual vacancy) appointed by the Board, provided that the total number of Executive Directors shall not exceed twelve.
(f) The Chief Executive (ex-officio)
Amend to read:

(e) Up to eleven individuals (each a Member) who are either nominated by the Board, by the Council or (in the case of a casual vacancy) appointed by the Board, provided that the total number of Executive Directors shall not exceed fifteen.
(f) The Chief Executive (ex-officio)
The EGM will be a short meeting and is open to all members of the Chamber.
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST IN CHAMBER BOARD MEMBERSHIP:
Newry Chamber is seeking expressions of interest from those members who would like to be considered to be appointed as a member of the Chamber Board.
Anyone interested in being considered to be appointed to the Board should send their expression of interest in writing to the Chamber CEO, Michael Savage via email to michael@newrychamber.com by no later than 5pm on Wednesday 5th June 2024.
The Chamber welcomes expressions of interest from members of all ethnic backgrounds and from businesses of all sizes and from all sectors to ensure that the Board is as diverse and representative as possible.
The Board will consider the expressions of interest and will make a proposal in relation to adding members to the Board at the EGM subsequent to the amendment to Section 41 being passed by members in attendance at the EGM.
