‘We help our members grow through a variety of networking opportunities.’

Former Rose is the new Junior Chamber President

The new President of the Newry Junior Chamber of Commerce and Trade is Nicole Curran, an accountant with PKF-FPM Accountants Ltd. Nicole, a former Rose of Tralee finalist was elected Saturday January 10 and professed herself to be “over the moon” with her new role. “I am absolutely delighted,” said Nicole. “I am enthusiastic about everything I do and going forward the main aim of my year is to promote the awareness of the Newry Junior Chamber and get across the broad range of expertise of the members that we already have.” With Newry Junior Chamber going from strength to strength in recent years Nicole hopes she can build on past successes as she seeks to lead and develop the Chamber over the next 12 months. The ambitious young business leader also has plans to expand the membership to ensure that the Newry Junior Chamber is acknowledged as a dynamic, forward looking, progressive organization, which provides excellent networking and business opportunities for young business leaders of the future. “The Chamber has strong members. We have the likes of MJM Marine, John Tinnelly and Sons, Dan O’Hare Commercials, The Rug House, The Bank of Ireland, other accountants such as Malone Lynchehaun. It’s a basis for people to network and though it’s a predominately a business organization, we do undertake various schemes in the community – we are heavily involved in the Women’s Aid Appeal,  for the Secret Santa for example,” she said. “Also if people are looking to raise their business profile or the business they are working for and also broaden their own skill set – that’s what we are offering. Our events in 2014 were very successful and hopefully going forward in 2015 we can continue that streak,” added the 26 year old Hilltown woman. Nicole acted as Vice-President of the Chamber last year and as a mark of her forward thinking nature pushed for a new website for the organization which she felt would benefit both member and those seeking information about the Chamber. That is now in place. “We are extremely lucky to have a member in this field and ITS New Media did a great job with it,” she said. She describes her employment with PKF-FPM as “fulfilling” and hopes that her new role will prove to be just as rewarding. Other Officers elected to the Chamber include Vice-President: Gareth Tinnelly from John Tinnelly and Sons Ltd; Treasurer: Lisa Doran from Bank of Ireland and Secretary Clare Vallely of the Rug House.
