Pop’s terrible twosome will play Pairc Esler in a free extravaganza to celebrate Haloween this October. Jedward who recently entertained the Big Brother House will headline the event on Saturday, October 29 and will be supported by a wide range of diverse acts. John and Edward Grimes affectionately known as Jedward first shot to fame as contestants on the X Factor talent show in 2009 and have proved a family favourite since carving our a career as recording stars and even representing Ireland in last year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Director of Administration at Newry and Mourne Council Eddy Curtis made the confirmation to councillors at Monday night’s District Development meeting. Mr Curtis outlined the sequence of the free events with Pairc Esler set to open at 4.30pm with the concert of acts culminating with Jedward beginning at 5.30pm and a fire works display to finish the event at 9pm. Council believe Pairc Esler will house 15,000 spectators and the GAA have agreed to print the tickets which will be distributed through out the Southern Cluster Area. The concert will be funded through the allocation set aside in the rates budget and from a Peace III donation.
