Mourne Stimulus Day Centre

Company Information

Mourne Stimulus Day Centre aims to develop independent life skills in a stimulating environment. They offer a wide range of activities, educational, vocational and essential skills training where they concentrate on abilities, not disabilities.

Their Garden Project offers a therapeutic environment where attenders are given responsibility for maintaining the garden and grounds. Their Picture Framing studio promotes a work ethos and provides an opportunity for attenders to be creative and interact with the public.

They offer facilities for sensory stimulation and as communication is essential for self expression, they encourage the use of Makaton signs and symbols. Their attenders play an important role in our local community through integration in social events.

The Mourne Stimulus Makaton Choir is well known and performs regularly in public, demonstrating their passion for music, drama and communication.

They also offer work placements both in-house and within the local community and a range of community activities.

Basic skills in literacy and numeracy are also available within the centre or attending the local college. Accreditation via the ASDAN award scheme can be achieved which is facilitated by Southern Regional College.

Their ‘Let’s Talk’ group meet up once a month where the group will discuss various topics and put forward ideas on new activities and suggestions are made for social events and outings.
