The Science Room is a STEM Educational Consultancy based in Newry run by Dr. Karen Mooney.
The Science Room is all about teaching science to everyone. A large focus of her work is in providing science education in an enjoyable and inspiring environment, building confidence and making science accessible to everyone.
Karen follows a STEAM approach, by using art and creative approaches in teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) topics.
Alongside her role as a part-time science lecturer in Southern Regional College, she provides individual science tuition, children’s science clubs and science teambuilding events.
Karen also hosts regular a ‘Ask A Scientist’ session on her social media channels, interviews with fellow scientists on YouTube and writes a the science column in NI4Kids family magazine.
As an academic for over 10 years, Karen still does freelance science research and consulting and she is also a Board member of the prestigious Lindemann Charity which funds research across physics, chemistry, mathematics and engineering.
