The Milestone Supermarket in Rathfriland has picked up the prestigious Neighbourhood Retailer of the Year 2015 award. It also scooped the title of Deli of the Year at the Neighbourhood Retailer Awards in Belfast’s Ramada Plaza on Friday night hosted by celebrated broadcaster Eamonn Holmes. Having won the Deli of the Year award, the Milestone was then put forward for the Neighbourhood Retailer of the Year award competing against all the other award winners but they came out top.
The shop was established on Newry Street over 26 years ago and last year it was re-launched with a new built in store.
Owner Tom McAvoy said: “The win comes at a good time as we will be celebrating a year since we officially opened the refurbished store. Tom paid tribute to not only his loyal customers but also his staff. “You can build a shop but you need to build a team to run it. I would take this opportunity to thank all our staff and customers.”
