It is hard to believe it is April already and Easter has arrived. I hope you have had a good start to the year and enjoy a great break over Easter.
I am delighted to say that after an extended consultation phase, the Chamber Board have agreed our ‘2022 & Beyond’ Strategy. Thank you for your input in this process.

As a Chamber, we have now grown to a membership of 300+ and will continue to be the leading voice for businesses in the Greater Newry Area. Thank you to all existing and new members. As always if you need any specific support, please reach out to Jessica, Jarlath and myself.
Our Corporate Patron Scheme has expanded and it will launch later this month. Thank you to all patrons for your ongoing commitment and support of the Chamber.

We have created a new ‘FIND JOBS’ section on our website to highlight the current vacancies within our members’ businesses in the Greater Newry Area.
We have set this page up as attracting the right people with the right skills to fill current vacancies is one of the main issues for our members at this present time.

DONATE YOUR LAPTOPS, TABLETS & IPADS
TO OUR ‘BACK TO SCHOOLS’ INITIATIVE
We have teamed up with Clanrye Group for a brand new initiative called ‘Back to Schools’ aimed at supporting the tech needs of our local primary schools.
We are encouraging businesses or organisations who have old or unused laptops, tablets, iPads to donate them to the scheme.
They will be wiped and cleaned by Clanrye Group.
We have launched the initiative with St Joseph’s PS, Bessbrook which has four learning support classes. Depending on the response there may be an opportunity to extend the scheme out to other schools.
Water Solutions Ireland Ltd are the first business to join the initiative, donating three laptops.

‘BACK IN BUSINESS’ SCHEME LAUNCHED IN NEWRY
WITH FINANCE MINISTER, CONOR MURPHY MLA
We were pleased to help launch the ‘Back In Business’ Scheme which offers businesses a 50% rates discount for up to two years if they occupy a vacant unit.
Finance Minister, Conor Murphy MLA launched the revamped, more generous scheme in Newry City which he hopes will give business owners who set up in empty premises help to get established in the first two years.
The scheme offers 50% rate relief for up to two years when empty premises become occupied. There are over 12,500 vacant business premises across NI.
The scheme will open for applications in May 2022.
