Prime Ministers Announcement on the Status of EU Citizens in the UK

Today, the Government published a paper setting out our offer for EU citizens in the UK, and UK citizens in the EU. The attached fact sheet sets out the key points, but you can find the full document here.

We would be grateful if you could share the factsheet and other information with your networks. If possible, we’d also be very keen to hear your, and their, early feedback.

At this stage, the UK remains a full member of the EU and all the rights and obligations of EU membership remain in place until the withdrawal process is complete. That means that there will be no change to the rights and status of EU citizens living in the UK, nor UK nationals living in the EU, during this time.

There is no need for EU citizens to take any action or apply for any documentation now to confirm their status or right to be here.

We will continue to keep you updated with any developments as they occur. In the meantime, you can visit ‘Status of EU nationals in the UK: what you need to know‘ webpage for the latest information. We also have some example case studies of how the government’s offer would affect EU citizens’ residence status in the UK after the UK’s exit from the EU.

We will also continue to keep you abreast of developments via our stakeholder bulletin, if you are not already a member please do join the mailing list.

Kind regards,
