Sainsbury’s jobs boost for city

Sainsbury’s is to recruit 14 new permanent and temporary staff for its Newry store in the Quays Shopping Centre. The jobs will help with the introduction of the store’s new online service. Customers in the Newry area will be able to their shopping online and have it delivered to their home. The increase in jobs will bring the total number employed in the store to 160. Nigel Macaulay Regional Operations Manager for Sainsbury’s said: “We are delighted to be bringing additional employment to the Newry area having established our new online service. We have been listening to the needs of our customers in the Newry area and it is fantastic to be able to now provide the south Down and south Armagh areas with an online shopping service. Todays sees the first batch of deliveries leave our stores in Newry destined for the homes of customers in the local area who have taken our advantage of our new service.” Simon Johnston Sainsbury’s Newry store manager added: “We are looking forward to providing this exciting new service to customers in the local area by launching our new online delivery service, something we are sure will be welcomed by customers. My colleagues and I are also very pleased to be able to welcome further members to our growing team here in Sainsbury’s Newry and we are looking forward to working together to provide the best possible service for our customers in the local area.”
