Santa Fun Run launched

The organisers of the annual Santa Fun Run are looking for help from the public to make this the biggest and best Fun Run to date, whilst raising much needed funds for a number of local charities. The Santa Fun Run is being organized in conjunction with the Christmas Lights Switch on in Newry on Friday November 21 at 5.30pm. The hope is to get more than 150 Santa’s to run down Hill Street in the city. Each Santa will represent a local business, club, school or designated charity and will wear their organisation’s logo or message. The Christmas lights switch on is being hosted by Newry and Mourne District Council and this year the local charities that will benefit from the money raised are Autism Mums, The Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund and Headway Newry. Organisers of the event are keen to stress that the Santa Fun Run is not a race. It’s a Fun Run with the emphasis on FUN. If they wish Santas can walk, crawl or dander o9ver the short course. An organization can sponsor a Santa for £100 or individuals can run for one of the designated charities with a donation of £50. Sponsor cards are available on request and all of the funds raised from this event will go to the local charities. The Santa Suits are very generously sponsored by Around a Pound. To be part of this event please contact the Santa Charity Fun Run Committee on 0283025456, email info@tng1.arrowhitech.net or visit the Facebook page at Newry Santa Fun Run.
