Santas on the run for city’s good causes

Newry city centre is set to be swept up in a sea of red and white with the annual Santa Run coming to it once again. With a few changes to the usual format of this festive fund raising event is scheduled to take place at 6.30 in the evening in conjunction with the Newry City’s Christmas Lights Switch on Ceremony in Marcus Square on Thursday November 22. Already a favourite with the local business community the Santa Fun Run Committee this year want to encourage an all inclusive family friendly event with Santas not only from local businesses but also local sports clubs, community organisations, schools and individuals. It is hoped that this year’s Santa Run will raise a minimum of £10,000 for two nominated charities, PIPS Newry and Mourne and the Newry and Mourne Gateway Club. The Santa Run is only a very short course along Hill Street and it is not a race. There will be prizes for the best dressed Santa and for the person who raises the most sponsorship. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of £50 or £100 if representing a local business. To register and receive a sponsorship form simply contact Emma Donnelly at Parker Green International on 028 3025 4560 or email emma.t@parkergreen.com .
