The Southern Regional College is set to enhance its business support services with the launch of the i3 initiative – industry, innovation and incubation – representing an investment of £500k. The initiative which runs until Friday (February) is designed to foster innovation and growth in local companies through the dedicated support of a team of 15 lecturers. The team will work exclusively with businesses offering knowledge transfer and support through R&D, one-to-one mentoring and specialist training. Brian Doran SRC CEO explains: “i3 will allow us to provide even more support to local businesses through our team of specialist staff. The team will engage with clients in a very practical way to help businesses solve real problems, address challenges and capitalize on growth opportunities. Much of the support i3 offers is wholly or part-funded through a number of government programmes; it is a very accessible and affordable knowledge platform for businesses to utilize.” 13 areas of specialism include product design, product development, waste management, retrofit, analytical chemistry, apps development, cloud computing and creative media as well as tourism, food science, retail development and advanced engineering. The i3 initiative will be officially launched with a week-long series of business focused events across SRC Campuses commencing January 28. For more information about i3 launch week events and workshops contact the i3 team on (028) 3025 9664) or email i3@src.ac.uk
