Who’s the greatest?

Some of Newry’s best known historical figures will be calling for your vote on Friday February 28 as local historians seek to put the age old question of ‘who is the greatest? The event which takes place in the Town Hall from 7.30pm will see the achievements of the likes of Fionn MacGorman, Richard Castle, Francis Carville, John Mitchel, John Martin, John Grubb Richardson, Sean Hollywood, and the Russell Sisters debated in front of an audience which doubles as an electorate. Speakers on the night include Sr Perpetua McArdle, Ross Chapman, Michael McKeown, Paul Hoben, Francis Gallagher, Adrian Murdock, Donal O’Hanlon and Mary Goss. Each speaker will fight the cause of their chosen candidate before the audience goes to the polls – deciding once and for all who can wear the crown of Newry’s Greatest. The event which will raise money for Concern will see all those in attendance given five votes for distribution.
