About the Speaker
Aeronautical engineer Martin Naughton founded Glen Electric in 1973, acquired Dimplex four years later, and built the combined company into the world’s largest manufacturer of electrical heating appliances. Naughton became sole owner of the company in 2003 and has weathered the economic downturn with investments in new energy-efficient products. He has also avoided debt. He provides scholarships for 60 Irish college students every year and is a trustee emeritus at the University of Notre Dame. Naughton helped facilitate and fund the university’s famed football team play a game in Dublin in 2012.
