Norbrook Laboratories is investing in its workforce through work based learning qualifications that are delivered in conjunction with Southern Regional College. The Newry based company is one of the north’s success stories with operations across the globe and is further supporting its staff. Through a series of NVQs in the fields of laboratory and associated technical activities; performing and manufacturing operations and business and administration. The nationally agreed standards of competence allow ed individuals to achieve academic recognition from their employer through developmental support in the workplace. The standards allow individuals to make positive differences to business operations conducted on a daily basis while being remunerated at the same time. Elizabeth Moran training manager at Norbrook said: ” We feel passionately about investing in our work force across all disciplines. These NVQs are the latest in our work based training schemes that help to support our business whilst also helping our employees gain the experience that is often quoted as being critical for obtaining employment in the first place. When our employees undertake an NVQ it is inspiring motivational and helps to maintain an adequate skill match for job satisfaction.” The NVQs are a further addition to the Norbrook Apprentice Scheme launched in 2013. The progressive strategy made in collaboration with Southern Regional College addresses the lack of job opportunities in the greater Newry area. Commonly these schemes are aimed at high school graduates. For recruitment opportunities visit
