The Achieving Finance programme held its first free workshop at the Canal Court Hotel last Thursday which was attended by over 26 local companies. The workshops on ‘Managing their Business in Tough Times’ which was financed by five local councils including Newry and Mourne and designed to help local firms cope better with the economic downturn and identify practical solutions to the issues they face because of it. Mayor John McArdle said: “The first master-class has given confidence and provided direction to the businesses when it comes to managing their finances. The next Master-class which everyone is looking forward to, will involve a series of guest speakers from the banks and investment companies who work in Northern Ireland. Participants will get a chance to hear what current opportunities exist for financial investment into their companies as well as the most up-to-date information on which direction the local banks are taking in this tough economic climate. This is a chance for our SMEs top hear what is out there for them and how they can respond.” The next workshop takes place on Tuesday October 16 at the Canal Court.
