SJH Fulfilment Invests £3.5m in Greater Belfast Expansion Supporting 25 Permanent Jobs

Congratulations to our member, SJH Fulfilment who has announced a £3.5 million investment in a new 46,000 sq ft Greater Belfast fulfilment facility, more than doubling its total warehousing footprint and supporting 25 permanent jobs at the site within the next three years.

The new facility takes the company’s total warehousing footprint in NI to 83,500 sq ft, up from 37,500 sq ft at its Kilkeel base.

The additional capacity will support larger fulfilment contracts across the fashion, wellness and beauty sectors, while marking the launch of a new 10-year growth strategy targeting revenues of £50 million by 2036.

5 full-time employees have already been recruited at the new site, with a further 20 permanent roles expected to be created over the next three years. An additional 10 seasonal positions will be added this winter.

The company has also secured a significant contract for the site with a multi-billion-dollar US-based brand, which is consolidating its GB & EU warehousing operations through NI.

SJH Fulfilment said the contract was secured in part through the confidence it has built around trading under the Windsor Framework and NI’s access to both the GB & EU goods markets.

The location of the facility at Maryland Industrial Estate in Moneyreagh provides further operational advantages as the business scales.

Its proximity to DPD provides access to later parcel cut-off times for GB and EU fulfilment, while its location closer to the Port of Belfast can help reduce container and onward distribution costs.

The expansion also coincides with the strengthening of SJH Fulfilment’s senior team, including the appointment of Stephen Laird as Chief Operating Officer, as the business prepares for its next phase of growth.

SJH Fulfilment currently employs 37 people across NI. Its growth strategy targets revenues of £3.5 million within 12 months, £5.5 million within three years and £50 million by 2036.

The business will use the additional capacity in Greater Belfast to pursue further e-commerce fulfilment contracts across the UK, Ireland, Europe and the US.

Stephen Henderson, Founder of SJH Fulfilment said:

“Opening this site is the single biggest step we have taken as a business and it couldn’t come at a better time. We started small, close to home in Kilkeel and have proven that a Northern Ireland fulfilment company can compete for major national and international brands.”

“This investment gives us the scale, location and capability to win larger contracts while creating high-quality permanent jobs. Securing a major US brand for our new facility is a strong endorsement of what we can offer and the opportunity ahead.”

“Our ambition is to grow revenues to £50 million over the next 10 years and with this expansion, a stronger leadership team and continued investment in our people, we are building the foundations to achieve it.”

Congratulations to Stephen and all the team on this major next step for a truly innovative, ambitious, local business and we wish you every continued success as you continue to scale, grow and evolve.
