Newry and Mourne’s most treasured landscapes could be about to benefit from a new Heritage Lottery funding programme. Conservation funding of £1.5m has been awarded to Mourne Heritage for a landscape Partnership Programme that will be rolled our over the next four years. Included in the scheme is the restoration of the Annalong Cornmill which will include th e development of a Mourne Granite Interpretative Centre. The district’s links with CS Lewis will also be maximized and be preserved through the Magical Mournes and Narnia trail planned for Kilbroney Park. YThe overall programme aims to bring together members of the community with local regional and national organizations to create a shared vision to tackle the natural and build heritage needs of the local landscape, re-invigorating traditional folklore, handcrafts and skills to ensure the natural cultural and industrial heritage of the Mournes is preserved and shared.
