Congratulations to our Corporate Patron, Bank of Ireland who celebrated a momentous 200 years in Newry City yesterday with members of their UK Board, local customers, businesses and community representatives.
Our President, Edwina Flynn was honoured to participate in a panel discussion at the special celebratory event alongside Stephen Cromie and Jacinta Linden to reflect on the past, present and future of banking business.
From the conversation, it’s clear that while much has changed over two centuries in the world of banking, the values of trust, community and innovation remain just as vital today.
Bank of Ireland is not just a financial institution but a partner who has walked alongside many local businesses, supporting them along the way and it was fantastic to see so many local businesses at this celebration.
As Chamber, we value Bank of Ireland’s unwavering support of the work that we do, the support they have given to assist many of members in their own individual business journeys and their positive contribution to the economic development of our city and wider region.
Thank you to the Bank of Ireland for continuing to champion progress, supporting our local communities and encouraging enterprise in Newry City over the past 200 years and here’s to delivering that same impact for the next 200 years.
Gail Goldie, UK CEO of Bank of Ireland UK said:
“These milestones are a rare but important opportunity to celebrate our history while looking to the future. We are ambitious for our customers and the communities we serve.”
“We continue to invest in services and improvements for our customers and are ready to embrace the opportunities ahead.”
