EVENT OVERVIEW:
To help business owners and advisors understand how employee ownership works and the benefits it offers, Employee Ownership Ireland (EOI) is hosting a roadshow event on Wednesday 26th February in Newry.
EOI is a new member-led community, launched last month to support businesses transitioning to employee ownership and organisation aims to support the development of 10,000 employee-owners across Northern Ireland by 2029.
Their goal is to build awareness, provide expert guidance and create a network of like-minded businesses across Northern Ireland and beyond.
This upcoming event will feature first-hand insights from businesses that have successfully transitioned to an employee ownership model, along with expert guidance on the process, benefits and key considerations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses, advisors and stakeholders to learn more about an ownership model that is gaining momentum across the UK and Ireland.
A key speaker at the event will be Anthony McVeigh, CEO of S&W Wholesale, the Newry-based business who employs more than 300+ people that transitioned to employee ownership in 2023.
Anthony McVeigh, CEO of S&W Wholesale said:
“At S&W Wholesale, we are a company run for the benefit of our employees. Moving to an employee ownership model has allowed us to protect our values, empower our workforce, and ensure the long-term success of the business.”
“Our journey to becoming an EOT initially began as a strategic move to ensure we had succession plan in terms of ownership, but it has actually gone on to really improve the culture and dynamic within the whole organisation.”
“Our colleagues are showing more initiative and enthusiasm for their respective roles, working together while and engaging on a more positive level with our customers who are then more likely to keep returning to us, so it’s creating a very happy cycle.”
