EVENT OVERVIEW:
As business leaders and road users, we all have a responsibility to keep ourselves, our employees and our customers safe.
Sadly, the latest statistics show that Newry, Mourne and Down has the highest annual rate of people who have been killed or seriously injured in collisions caused by speeding so this is a really important event for everyone in our local business community.
The PSNI Roadsafe Roadshow is a hard hitting, immersive experience which has a positive impact on those who watch it.
The show tells the story of Craig, a young male who has just passed his driving test and is taking his girlfriend out for the night. Unfortunately, the night ends in tragedy.
You will see video footage of the scene and hear directly from local members of the emergency services, who will tell you about their personal experiences of being first responders on the scene of a collision.
You will also hear from others whose lives have been directly affected, including a man who was involved in a fatal road traffic collision and as a result went to prison and Lizzie who was involved in a road traffic collision on her 19th birthday and as a result has spent her life since then in a wheelchair.
The aim of the show is to highlight the consequences of poor driver behaviour and decision making in a memorable manner combining personal testimonials, along with video clips of a visual crash scene with full sound immersion as well as home and hospital reconstruction.
