Twenty years ago this month the Reporter carried details of ambitious plans by the Confederation of Community Groups to redevelop the former Starks Factory at Cornmarket into a multi purpose Community Resource Centre. According to the article the project, which was valued at £1m, had received the support of the Council and was in the process of drawing down the funding needed for its delivery. In time the CCG not only achieved its goals at Ballybot House but surpassed them with an ancillary building ‘An Storas’ also being refurbished for community purposes.
