Autoline Jobs Boost

Newry received a boost on Wednesday when it announced that 60 new jobs will be created at Autoline Insurance. Sinn Fein Newry and Armagh MP Conor Murphy welcomed the announcement. “I congratulate Autoline and MD Michael Blaney on the continued growth of this locally based company. This Newry based company almost 150 workers and these additional jobs will be a further boost to the local economy,” he said. “I also welcome the support provided by invest NI in this expansion. It is important that indigenous business receives the support of the statutory investment agencies to stimulate the economy and job creation.” Speaking on the day of the announcement South Down MLA Karen McKevitt said the news is great for local people. Ms McKevitt said: ” I want to welcome the announcement from Autoline today that they are to create 60 new jobs in the local area. As many people continue to struggle and the economy continues to show fragile signs of recovery, it’s great we have a new source of employment for local people. Autoline have already shown a significant commitment to the local area and employ a sizable staff. The decision to expand once again shows that we have a local workforce that is more than capable of delivering services on a bigger stage. As the company plans to invest further in the local HQ these new jobs will deliver a much needed extra £1.5 million to the local economy. This is a good day for Autoline, local people and our economy generally.” Ms McKevitt’s colleague Margaret Ritchie added: “I was delighted on Wednesday of last week to attend the important jobs announcement at Autoline Insurance Company in Newry. Autoline Insurance Company headquartered in Newry is creating 60 new jobs in the new area of Telematics – a new survey mechanism to assess driver behaviour, which this company has pioneered. In fact I brought a delegation from the company to meet the former Minister for the Environment two years ago to demonstrate the importance of this new initiative in the insurance industry. Autoline is one of Northern Ireland’s leading independent brokers providing a range of insurance and financial services to both personal and business clients across Northern Ireland. The new jobs will support a further move into the wider South of Ireland and British markets and form part of the company’s multimillion investment plans over the next four years. The 60 new jobs will be based primarily in the company’s headquarters in Newry but there will be opportunities in other branches one of which is in Downpatrick. Congratulations must go to the MD Michael Blaney and his staff team for their diligence, hard work, strategic and innovative approach to the insurance industry in Newry and further afield.
