Brian Conlon, Founder & CEO of First Derivatives plc Passes Away Aged 53

Further to the RNS by First Derivatives plc on 17 May 2019 announcing his diagnosis with cancer, Brian Conlon, Founder and CEO of the Newry-based company passed away on 28th July 2019 at the age of 53.

Statement from Paul Convery, President of Newry Chamber on death of Brian Conlon, Founder and CEO of First Derivatives plc:

“On behalf of Newry Chamber of Commerce & Trade, I wish to express my deepest condolences to Brian’s family.”

“Through First Derivatives plc, Brian put the city of Newry on the global map. He created rewarding and exciting career opportunities not just for the young people of Newry but for many graduates from around the world who came to Newry to start their careers.”

“Brian was an inspirational business leader with his heart in Newry but most of all, he was a family man and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.”

The Group has initiated a process to appoint a new CEO and will provide an update on progress with that process in due course. In the interim period, Non-Executive Chairman, Seamus Keating has been appointed Executive Chairman with immediate effect.

Seamus Keating commented:

“Brian built a world-class business in First Derivatives plc. His drive, ambition and determination inspired all who had the privilege to work with him. This news is a profound shock to all of us. We offer Brian’s family our sincerest condolences and ask for privacy on their behalf at this sad and most difficult of times.”

His funeral will take place on Wednesday 31st July at 1pm in Newry Cathedral.
