Bridge summit

Warrenpoint, Burren and Rostrevor (WBR) Chamber of Commerce involved in the Narrow Water Bridge Project pressure group travelled to Dublin to meet with Fianna Fail leader Miceal Martin last week. The group met in Lenister House to lobby for full support from Mr Martin’s party as the momentum gathers for the bridge to be granted SEUPB funding in the next round which is due to be announced soon. Mr Martin has recently expressed his support for the project at his party’s Ard Fheis. Mr Martin and his Louth TD colleague Seamus Kirk who was also present at the meeting both expressed their support for the project joining both sides of Carlingford Lough at a time when the need is greater than ever to promote tourism and improve the infrastructure that will enable travel around the new Geo Tourism area of the Mournes, Cooley and the Ring of Gullion, the WBR said. Mr Martin said he would make enquiries to see if the project was on the agenda at the next meeting of the North-South body which is due to meet this month.
