Businesses urged to enter awards at ‘a key time’

Efforts made by businesses in Newry and Mourne area to promote the area as a place synonymous with quality and service will be recognized at this year’s Newry Chamber of Commerce and Trade Business awards. The BBC’s Gerry Kelly helped launch this year’s awards at Bellinis on Tuesday where Chamber President Cathal Austin urged businesses to put their name in the hat and help promote confidence and quality of businesses in the district. “We are proud to announce the launch of the Greater Newry Area Business Awards 2013,” said Mr Austin. “The business awards competition will recognize the efforts made by businesses to promote Newry as a place synonymous with product quality, service and customer care. If your business is a local independent or multi-national, trading as a manufacturer retailer or service provider – whether it employs two or 200, with 19 award categories requiring nominations there is ample opportunity to have your business recognized in this prestigious regional business awards competition. This is a key time for Newry to show its confidence in the best of its businesses and in the future of this great trading community.” Mr Austin went on to thank the sponsors of this year’s award which will take place on September 12 in the Canal Court Hotel. The awards will be judged by independent adjudicators and deadline for  entry is July 9. Categories will include Best New Business Award. Best Green Award, Best Pub Award, Best Business Growth Award, Best Marketing Initiative Award, Best Young Entrepreneur Award, Best Social Enterprise Award and Best Export Business Award. Over the coming days awards brochures will be distributed to businesses throughout the region listing all the award categories and advising on how to enter.
