Chamber Awards success for firm

A Newry-based insurance specialist has secured a major title at the regional heats of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce Chamber Awards. Autoline Insurance Group beat off challengers from across the Country to secure the Excellence in the Innovation Award Impressing the judges with the way it has brought a new smart phone app to the market. The company which provides car, business and home insurance as well as financial services has invested £2m into launching the “Road Safe Reward App that has the potential to reduce insurance premiums by 50 per cent by monitoring driving behavior. Autoline has secured the backing of a panel of insurers who will underwrite policies taken out by clients willing to use the app and is planning to increase initial availability on Android Phones to include Blackberry and iPhone by the end of 2012. Ann McGregor chief executive of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce said: “There has never been a more important time for businesses to showcase the amazing work they are doing on a day-to-day basis. The Chamber Awards is a perfect platform for them to just that and receive the recognition and profile they deserve for helping move the economy forward and create employment often in local areas. A record number of firms have taken part this year all determined to prove that ‘Business is Good’ for recovery.” Autoline is one of nine regional winners in the north who will now go forward and compete for the national titles in their respective categories in the British Chamber of Commerce Awards. The National Final will take place in London on November 29. Finalists will have a chance to win “Outstanding Business Achievement” and a £25,000 cash prize. Now in its ninth year the competition is one of the showcase events that highlight the role of business as a positive force in the UK recovery and the success of local communities and individuals.
