Daisy Hill welcomes new cardiology consultant

The Southern Trust’s new Consultant Cardiologist has said that he is delighted to have joined the team in Daisy Hill Hospital. Dr Damian McCall – who received his PhD from Queen’s University Belfast and completed higher specialist training in cardiology and general medicine through the Northern Ireland Medical Deanery – is the newest number of the dedicated team of consultants, speciality doctors and specialist trained nurses who provide a wide range of inpatient and outpatient cardiology services in the Newry hospital. “I am delighted to join the Southern Trust team and specifically the experienced team at Daisy Hill who have seen many advances in cardiology care over the years,” he said. “Thanks to recent medical developments and improvements in the way we work as a regional cardiac service, patients no matter where they live in the Southern Trust area or indeed throughout Northern Ireland have a much better chance of a full recovery following a heart attack than several years ago.” Dr McCall added that whilst the range of cardiac services provided by Daisy Hill had expanded they still work closely with Craigavon Area and Royal Victoria hospitals to ensure that the patients get the best possible care. “Patients in Daisy Hill also benefit from our close working relationship with cardiology colleagues in Craigavon Hospital who have expertise in coronary stenting and pacemaker implantation,” he said. “We are committed to ensuring that patients who attend Daisy Hill Hospital because of cardiac problems have access to state of the art effective and holistic care delivered in a timely manner.”
