Formula Karting & House of Murphy Submit Planning Applications for Rebuilding of Fire Damaged Premises at Greenbank

Great news from Formula Karting and House of Murphy who have submitted planning applications for the rebuilding of their premises at Greenbank Industrial Estate following the devastating fire last year.

The owners of Formula Karting and the House of Murphy have both submitted applications for the re-construction of their premises following the extensive fire damage and subsequent demolition.

Both premises were completely gutted following an accidental fire on 13th July 2024 and the rebuilt premises will be sizeable with Formula Karting expected to be 4526m2 and House of Murphy 4025m2.

Formula Karting and House of Murphy are names synonymous with our city’s rich history of successful family-run businesses.

Formula Karting has been in business for over 30 years with House of Murphy being in business for 50 years and we know that they will bounce back bigger and better than ever.

We wish the Feenan and Murphy families all the best as they take the first steps towards the re-construction of their premises and look forward to the day when their doors are open for business once again in Greenbank.

Michael Savage, CEO of Newry Chamber said:

“This was a huge blow to a long-established family businesses that has provided a retail outlet for decades in the Greater Newry Area.”

“I am delighted the Feenan and Murphy families have now lodged an application to rebuild the premises after what was a truly tragic event.”
