The eyes of the world will descend on south Armagh on Sunday May 11 as Ireland welcomes the Giro d’Italia international cycle race. The best riders from around the globe will tackle the hilly roads of Newtownhamilton, Belleek, Lislea, Forkhill and on through to the Longfield Road in a race only second in the world to the Tour de France. And Giro has certainly captured the hearts and imaginations of the people of south Armagh. There isn’t a tin of pink paint left in the shops nor is there an old bike or wall safe from the pink Giro treatment. There will be a total 22 teams comprising 200 of the best cyclists in the world competing in this race. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the famous Giro d’Italia at close quarters. But if you are planning to see this spectacular event make sure to arrive early to soak up the atmosphere and the craic,
