Companies in Newry and Mourne have an opportunity later this week to increase their sales and grow their businesses at an event in Craigavon. Energy Connection promotes supply chain opportunities for local businesses and representatives from two major renewable energy companies will be at the session. Any business located in the Newry and Mourne District area from any sector is welcome to attend. The business growth event takes place at the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre, Oxford Island and begins at 9am on December 6. The event will feature senior speakers from B9 Energy Group and SSE Renewables who will outline their current activities and future plans including potential opportunities for local suppliers. Amanda Smyth from Newry and Mourne District Council which co-ordinates the programme said that all businesses can benefit by taking part in the Energy Connections Programme. “Working with Invest NI we have identified renewable energy as a growth economic area and the Energy Connections NI Programme will assist local SME’s to share the economic opportunity,” she said. “All businesses can participate and benefit from plumbers and electricians to engineering companies and professional firms like solicitors and accountants.  Even local hoteliers and restaurant owners are welcome to come along. This event will help people to improve their marketing and presentation skills and hearing directly from the renewable companies will be a major benefit.” So far more that 60 businesses have signed up for the Energy Connections Programme and they have been assisted in drawing down support to develop a collaborative network, management plans for their company an d funding for attendance at trade shows.
