The partnership behind a new ideas bank created for SMEs in the border counties and Northern Ireland is to host a series of one to one consultations with company bosses to discuss a list of viable business ideas available to licence. Kieran Fegan Director of the VITAL Project based in Dundalk Institute of Technology says the consultations with existing entrepreneurs will explore innovative business ideas which have been assessed by experts. “This series of one to one consultations is for companies which are genuinely interested in the ideas we have assessed,” said Mr Fegan. “We have a priming capital fund from 5,000 Euro to 15,000 Euro per project for prototype development, market visits, product trials and so on which licensees can apply for.” VITAL a 2.56m Euro initiative funded by the EU’s INTERREG IVA Programme, a partnership between Dublin City University, Queen’s University Belfast and Dundalk Institute of Technology, has identified over 60 innovations and technologies ripe for development. “We are encouraging business people from mainly engineering, ICT, new media, agrti-food and renewable greentech backgrounds to make contact. The consultations will be held in Queen’s University Belfast on March 3, Dublin City University on March 10, Dundalk Institute of Technology on March 12 and The Clarion Hotel in Sligo on March 31,” Mr Fegan added.
