They have shown that sustainability and provision of a high-quality hospitality experience can go hand in hand, congratulations to the team on leading the way.”

“We are honoured to receive this award and will continue our efforts, leading the way in sustainable tourism and hospitality and look forward to representing Northern Ireland in the Sustainability category at the UK final in May.”

With a sustainability plan in place based on the UN Sustainable Development goals framework, Killeavy Castle Estate has implemented a number of sustainable initiatives, including the use of smart seasonal design concepts to reduce the reliance on artificial lighting, heating and air conditioning to conserve energy, the elimination of single use plastic bottles and coffee cups through the introduction of glass water bottles and compostable coffee cups in rooms and refreshment areas across the estate, as well as the use of produce sourced from its own onsite vegetable gardens and working farm in its restaurants.

The estate also works closely with local suppliers and partners when sourcing goods to reduce its carbon footprint and support the local economy. Killeavy Castle Estate will go forward to represent Northern Ireland in the Sustainability category at the FSB UK Awards final.
