The Board of Directors of Newry Chamber of Commerce has been informed of CEO, Tony McKeown’s intention to leave his role at the end of the summer to pursue other interests.
Tony McKeown has been in the position of CEO for two years and in that time he has made a valuable contribution to the organisation.
Julie Gibbons, President of Newry Chamber said:
“It is with regret that the Board of Newry Chamber accepted Tony’s resignation this week. Tony’s passion for Newry and the local area is infectious and I have no doubt that he will continue to be involved in the local business community. The Board, Council, Membership and Management of Newry Chamber wish Tony well in his future endeavours.”
“Newry Chamber is a proud and strong organisation with a 200-year history. We have a full programme of events from September to December with the NI Small Business Conference, the President’s Banquet and the Chamber AGM amongst other activity, which we look forward to. We will be putting interim management measures in place in the short-term before we embark on a recruitment process.”
Tony McKeown said of his resignation:
“I would like to thank the Newry Chamber Board, Council, Members and Partners for their support over the last two years.”
“It has been a privilege to represent such a vibrant business community across the Greater Newry region. I wish the members well in the future.”
Newry Chamber currently has more than 300 members and provides lobbying, events and networking services in the Greater Newry Area.
