Newry man hopes to seal the deal

Imagine doing your weekly shop, ordering a meal in a restaurant or booking a hotel room – and that’s the opportunity promised by Dealtronic which Newry man Peter McCaul hopes to secure a £200,000 investment when he pitches it next month to Northern Ireland angel investment network, Halo. Up to 50 angel investors will attend the Newry pitch event at the Canal Court on June 6 in the hopes of finding an idea exciting and original enough to take a stake in it themselves. Speaking about his idea, Dealtronic, Peter explained that it offers a promotional software package which enables certain businesses for a minimal annual licence fee to creating appealing and profitable deals. “Promotions can be marketed in-house through a tablet device, online through our consumer website or via mobile phones. This means that no matter where a customer is they can avail of the promotions and seal the deal,” he said. “In these difficult economic times businesses from all sectors need to be thinking of innovative strategies that can increase sales, profits and customer loyalty – and make them stand out from the crowd. It’s not just about survival but about being the most innovative. I believe that Dealtronic could be the answer to many retail business prayers. When a consumer goes into a Dealtronic outlet – bar, supermarket or hotel – they will see the ed Dealtronic items on offer. On choosing an item and paying at the till they click a button on a tablet device and the screen shows a random level of discount. Every customer is guaranteed some discount – possibly 100 per cent. The consumer’s good luck is greeted by sounds and visual effects can be shown on the screen, alerting everyone around them of their good fortune.” Peter’s pitch for Dealtronic will be one of eight heard by Halo’s angel investors when they visit Newry.
