Newry and Mourne District Council have appointed consultants to undertake an options appraisal for a Clanrye River Corridor Enhancement scheme. A key aspect of this work will be to consider the installation of a river weir which would maintain water levels in the City area. However the assessment will also consider other river enhancement initiatives that would make optimum use of our water front areas, encourage regeneration and development opportunities, and overall improve the visual appearance of the river.
An open event has been arranged as detailed below. We encourage you to meet with our consultants to discuss the options, and provide input on how you feel the river corridor could be improved, and what would be the benefits from a regeneration, economic or recreational perspective.
