Newry rug retailer wins Exporter of the Year

The Rug House has won the 2014 Exporter of the Year at the DANI Awards held on Derry. The Newry based online retailer fought off stiff competition to claim the prize at the DANI Awards. Which are the premier awards for online and digital businesses in Northern Ireland. Siblings Paul and Clare Vallely started the business in 2006 and now sell up to 3,000 rugs a week across the world to over 30 countries including England Spain France Italy and USA. Based in Carnbane Industrial Estate and with 23 staff the local business has doubled its work force in two years. The company growth on year has been 60 per cent with an increase of 400 percent last year. 98 per cent of sales are outside of Northern Ireland which has facilitated such rapid growth. Marketing Manager Stephen McElrone said: “We are delighted to be recognized with the award which reflects our continued growth and development. We now have a showroom which is proving very popular locally and our new website is ready to be launched in November so these are exciting times for us.” The company is moving into exciting times with the opening of a new £80k showroom in Newry and a new website to be launched in November. The Rug House is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Visit www.rughouse.co.uk for more information and to view the range of rug designs on offer.
