Sports Direct which will open a new store in Newry at the end of October has announced the creation of 50 new jobs. A range of full and part-time jobs will be created at 12,000 sq ft store at The Quays Shopping Centre bringing the company’s total portfolio in the north to 14. A spokesperson for Sports Direct said: “This is a great milestone for us and further demonstrates our commitment to developing the Sports Direct brand in Northern Ireland. Over the past eight years our development has been driven by the growth and demand from local consumers for great value sportswear, footwear and equipment from top brands such as Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Umbro, Lonsdale, Dunlop and Slazenger. As long as this is the case we will continue to look for opportunities so we can give consumers what they want and provide them with the unbeatable prices that Sports Direct has become renowned for.” The company is currently recruiting for a range of roles including store manager, assistant manager and sales assistants.
