Newry Chamber of Commerce & Trade hosted the launch party of Newry Style City weekend in The Bank Newry on Wednesday, 27 March
At the launch delegates representing Newry’s retail, hospitality and service sectors were informed about the exciting plans for Newry Style City 2013.
Ms Colleen Dowdall, Acting Chief Executive, Newry Chamber, advised, ‘Newry Style City is a celebration of fashion designed to promote and profile Newry’s fashion and beauty industry on a local, regional and national stage’.
‘From the 18th – 21st April, Newry will be indulging in a highly anticipated four days of fabulous events right across the city showcasing the latest trends in fashion, hair, make up and beauty for spring/summer 2013′.
‘The team behind Newry Style City hope to build on the success and experience of previous years and make the 2013 fashion celebrations even better through facilitating more fashion themed fringe events throughout City, encourage greater engagement with the local community, attract more visitors from all over Ireland and build Newry Style City as an brand synonymous with fashion retail; ultimately driving more footfall to our local shops’.
Newry Style City 2013 will include the return of the Style Awards hosted by Cool FM’s Conor Philips in the Bank Newry on Friday 19th April and the Diamonds & Daiquiris in Jack Murphy Jewellers and fashion events in the two shopping centres – The Quays and Buttercrane.
The NSC team have some new and exciting events this year including Southern Regional College Style Secrets featuring Marietta Doran. This event will give guests top tips on how to dress for different occasions, work wear, smart casual and occasions. This event will be held on Friday 19th April in the Bellini’s from 12.30pm – 2.00pm. The Southern Regional College will also be hosting a Master Class Enhancing Sales for retailers with Marietta Doran on Friday 19th April in Bellini’s from 3.00pm – 4.30pm.
The finale event will be ‘Fashion Afternoon Tea’ taking place on Sunday, 21st April in the Canal Court from 3 -5pm. This new and glamorous event will feature Berling, Cahill Bros, Elite Hats, Jack Murphy Jewellers, JV Kelly Menswear, MacAdorey Opticians and Silk.
Throughout the Newry Style City celebrations, there will be fringe events held in venues throughout the City.
Ms Colleen Dowdall, stated, ‘we would like to extend an invitation to everyone with a keen interest in fashion and beauty to get involved in this year’s Newry Style City. We would like to invite individuals as well as local retailers, service sector and hospitality providers to participate in someway with the festival; there are plenty of opportunities to get involved, whether its through hosting fringe events in their premises, entering into the Most Stylish Awards or sponsoring key events’.
