Pride In Newry Festival
The Newry Rainbow Community is organising a Pride in Newry Festival weekend of activities in Newry City, incorporating a parade, outdoor entertainment and a “Party in the Park”. This event will take place over the weekend of Saturday 29th September 2012.
The event will be a broad platform to showcase the diversity of communities and cultures in Newry City.
The main festival day on September 29th will be organised across three distinct but inter-related locations / events. There will be arts & crafts stalls and workshops along with street performers, music, busking and face painting in Newry’s newly refurbished public performance space at Marcus Square. The main parade pageant will then wind its way through the heart of Newry City along Monaghan Street, Sugar Island and Hill Street passing through Marcus Square, and then along Merchants’ Quay finishing up at McClelland Park where there will be an open-air “Party in the Park” with well known local groups and performers and also incorporating a family friendly area with entertainment for children and young people in a designated safe area.
The Pride in Newry Festival wants to celebrate all that’s good about Newry City and allow everyone to show that we are indeed a proud people.
