Newry Junior Chamber has launched its annual Secret Santa Appeal which is now in its seventh year. Christmas trees have been placed at Buttercrane Shopping Centre and The Quays Shopping Centre which are decorated with gift cards and the name and age of hundreds of local children who are in need of Secret Santas this Christmas. Shoppers are invited to choose a cared and buy a gift for the child returning it to the collection points. Newry Junior Chamber Siobhan Nugent said: “We work closely with a number of local charities to identify children of all ages whom Christmas may not be that special due to number of reasons. The response to our last six Secret Santa Appeals has been truly amazing and we are hopeful that the people of Newry and the surrounding area will once again demonstrate their generosity and kind-heartedness.” Gifts should be returned to the location where you took the card from and the final date to donate gifts is December 23. Newry Junior Chamber elves will liase with local charities ensuring that all gifts are collected and distributed in time to give children a special gift this Christmas. Any charities which feel they could benefit from the appeal should contact g.short@castleway.ie or Stephen@oharetrucks.com
