Six Figure Investment in Sainsbury’s Newry due for Completion

Sainsbury’s Newry at The Quays Shopping Centre is in the closing stage of a half a million pound upgrade which will lead to a number of new departments and improvements for the store.

The work which was carried out with minimal disruption for customers comes less than three years after the store enjoyed a multi-million pound investment to make the store bigger and more energy efficient.

The store is introducing a number of new departments including women’s clothing, a toys and game section and the introduction of a dedicated technology department including mobile phones, televisions and radios. There will also be extended homeware, children’s clothing and small domestic  appliances sections.

Simon Johnston, Sainsbury’s Newry Store Manager said: “I am delighted that we are approaching the end of our upgrade. We hope to have everything completed this week so customers can enjoy the new look store. We carried out the works with as little disruption as possible and we hope that our customers new and old will enjoy shopping in the new departments. We are delighted that we have been able to create the extra space for our general merchandise offering without reducing the space given to food.

“We’re proud to have been a place where people in Newry love to work and shop for more than 15 years now and we hope that customers and colleagues will continue to enjoy shopping at Sainsbury’s in Newry.”

The works at the store are due for completion during the week commencing 27th August.
