Mayor Michael Ruane joined the Burlesque Belles to launch the 2013 Newry Oktoberfest which will run from Thursday October 3 to October 6 at McClelland Park in Newry City Centre. The festival will open with a 5k run through the City finishing back at McClelland Park where all competitors will be treated to an ice cold stein of German Beer and the sounds of the St Catherine’s Brass Band playing in the giant marquee. Other top acts playing over the weekend include Cold Porter and Hair O The Dawg. A traditional German Market will also be on site over the weekend and after the success of last year’s event the organisers are urging people to visit Newry Oktoberfest for a little sample of German culture Newry style.
