Brenda Hughes senior manager with Fitzpatrick and Kearney Limited Chartered Accountants Newry recently attained her Diploma in Forensic Accounting. She was duly informed by Chartered Accountants Ireland (the awarding body) that she had ben ranked first in the diploma from all candidates sitting the examination. The impressive result was no real surprise to the directors at Fitzpatrick and Kearney Limited who have witnessed for many years the ability of their senior manager. This recent qualification will allow Brenda and the company to undertake forensic work which previously would have been referred onward to external specialists. This expanded service will allow the company to assist in instances of dispute or suspected fraud. Additionally much demand on forensic accountants comes as the result of marital breakdown where the parties and or the court seek to assess the assets of each party.
Fitzpatrick and Kearney also received more good news recently when employee Malgortzata (Gosia) Domanska was recently placed third in Ireland in the Financial Reporting (INT) examination of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). She was also ranked an incredible 17th in the world in the same examination. Gosia who comes from Poland joined the company in January 2008. She is getting used to being a top achiever as only last year she was placed first in Ireland (14th in the world) in her taxation examinations. Gosia’s current role involves managing the tax affairs of a variety of clients both in the UK and within the ROI and she is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate tax refunds are received by clients on a timely basis. Having Gosia as an employee has also allowed Fitzpatrick and Kearney to act for some of the many Polish businesses in the Newry area and given them confidence that all their tax affairs are being correctly managed within a foreign jurisdiction.
