The USPCA headquartered in the heart of Newry City is the second oldest Animal Welfare Charity in the world and will be celebrating their 200th Anniversary in just over 10 years’ time.
It is a remarkable achievement and throughout this time, they have been providing a range of services to promote animal welfare in Northern Ireland.
As part of their outreach work, the USPCA recently joined the Newry Chamber to develop and strengthen links with local businesses.
The charity care for, rescue, rehabilitate, release and rehome animals across Northern Ireland. However, perhaps lesser known, is that the USPCA has three social enterprises located at their Newry HQ including a:
- Pet Supplies Shop
- Grooming Parlour
- Veterinary Service
The USPCA also have charity shops in Banbridge, Lurgan and Lisburn, with the desire to open more and increase its presence across the province. Every penny spent at their centre is reinvested back into supporting animals in their care.
There are lots of opportunities for local businesses to support the charity, who are passionate about animals and want to meet corporate responsibility targets, enhance your reputation and boost employee wellbeing, staff engagement and morale.
Staff will also have the opportunity to volunteer at the rescue centre, spending time with our specialised teams and getting hands-on experience caring their our animals.
Nora Smith, CEO of the USPCA commented:
“We have been so impressed by the range of businesses and networking opportunities through the Newry Chamber and look forward to seeing how we can collaborate with local businesses large and small to work more closely with our charity.”
“We are committed to working with local entrepreneurs to develop partnerships which will ultimately help us to do more for animals in need.”
Michael Savage, CEO of Newry Chamber added:
“We are delighted to welcome the USPCA as a new member of Newry Chamber and we are proud that Newry is home to the headquarters of such a fantastic organisation which offers a fantastic array of services in the care of animals and pets.”
“The USPCA deserves the support of our local business community and our wider community. I was so impressed by the services offered by the USPCA in Newry which I recently visited and I would encourage anyone with a pet or love for animals to pay them visit.”
