Press Release

What could you bring to Newry Style City 2013 ?

Newry Style City is back for 2013 and this time Newry Chamber of Commerce and Trade hopes to make it even bigger and better than the successes of the previous two years.

Running from Thursday 18th April to Sunday 21st April there will be something for everyone with the return of Newry Style Awards as well as events in venues across the city and beyond over the weekend.

The committee behind this event manage this initiative in a voluntary capacity putting a huge effort into establishing Newry on the fashion map in Northern Ireland and across the island. We are currently looking for retailers, venues, volunteers, sponsors, those in the fashion, hair, beauty, hospitality and service sectors to put forward ideas about events they could run or items we could add to the programme to really show what we have to offer in the city.

Colleen Dowdall, Acting Chief Executive Newry Chamber of Commerce & Trade said, “As part of the Newry Style City committee we are absolutely delighted to once again be bringing this fantastic event to our city. Last year we had amazing support from retailers and businesses across the region and we hope that will continue this year. We have already had interest from a number of sponsors which is a testament to the success of last two years and the number of people who came and enjoyed the programme of events. We have lots of ways in which organisations and individuals can get involved this year with new events and activities on offer.”

Deborah Loughran, Vice President, Newry Chamber added, “This is an opportunity for us to come together as a city in these difficult retailing conditions and show what we have to offer. In previous years we have achieved fantastic support from the local business community and excellent recognition of this festival beyond our city. We hope to build on these successes in 2013. We are in the very early planning stages so we would urge anyone who feels they may have a contribution to make through running an event or getting involved in those already in planning to get in touch with Colleen at the Chamber. Newry Chamber is here to work on behalf of our local business community to lobby, support and encourage trade in our city. We have proved in 2011 and 2012 that Newry Style City can help to do this and we hope 2013 will firmly put this event on the social and business calendar in our city.”

We would encourage anyone who is interested in contributing in any way to contact Newry Chamber of Commerce & Trade at or to put forward ideas for the programme.” Please contact info@tng1.arrowhitech.net
